The study conducted by the scientists was described on the example of a clinical case in the journal The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, where frequent hiccups, which lasted for four days, became an uncharacteristic symptom for Covid-19.
This case was recorded in a 62-year-old patient with coronavirus infection in Chicago. He did not have previously described and studied symptoms such as fever, shortness of breath, cough and chest pain. After examining this patient, his test for coronavirus infection gave a positive result, and there were blackouts in the lungs in the pictures. In addition, the patient also had concomitant chronic diseases.
Despite the fact that such a symptom as hiccups was the first case among patients, it is still a rare case, it should not be excluded from the range of specific for Covid-19. In the future, a more thorough differential diagnosis of coronavirus infection should be carried out, as the number of symptoms atypical for it is growing.
