Breast cancer affects one in eight women in the United States, and while there are many types of breast cancer, about 80% are estrogen receptor-dependent or ER-positive. In the case of ER-positive breast cancer, estrogen promotes cancer growth. To treat this type of breast cancer, doctors prescribe medications that block hormone production in the body.

Researchers have developed a new drug called TTS-352. The Phase 1 clinical trial included 15 women with metastatic breast cancer who had previously received multiple cycles of hormone therapy, in some cases chemotherapy, including a CDK4 / 6 inhibitor.

An interesting fact is that the use of the above drug did not cause any toxic side effects, even if the drug was used in high doses. In total, six patients had a stable course of the disease without progression of the disease: two for 6 months and four for 3 months.

“The results of the Phase 1 study show that TTC-352 is a safe and well-tolerated alternative to chemotherapy for patients who have already received hormone therapy,” the researchers noted.
