British and American scientists in the study identified a new approach to the treatment of aggressive breast cancer. In women with this type of cancer, approximately 75% of tumors are estrogen receptor positive.

A number of breast cancer cells have receptors that can come into contact with estrogen, which ensures their rapid growth. Despite the fact that relapses can be resisted by taking antiestrogen drugs, resting cancer cells do not respond to the action of the drug.

At the moment, experts have been able to identify that they are beginning to transmit the interleukin-1 receptor, which is in direct contact with the immune system.

Scientists argue that thanks to substances that selectively affect the named receptor, it will be possible to provide more effective treatment for breast cancer.
