The problem of depression is very relevant and widespread nowadays. This is because the disease significantly affects a person's quality of life and social functioning. According to scientists from Ohio State University, a course of cognitive-behavioral therapy can help cope with depression.

The study, published in the journal Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, found that 41% of unemployed or underemployed patients who received cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) found a new job or had moved to full-time employment by the end of the 16-week depression treatment.

"It is hard to say exactly how good this success rate is since we don't know how many would have gotten jobs without the treatment," said Daniel Strunk, co-author of the study and professor of psychology at The Ohio State University.

According to researchers, when a person with depression is rejected at an interview, he invariably holds negative views about himself and his future, there are thoughts "no one will ever hire me". Cognitive-behavioral therapy helps to overcome such difficulties, teaches you to discard your negative beliefs.

"Working patients reported at the end of treatment that they were much more successful at concentrating and accomplishing tasks at their jobs," Strank said.
