Patients at the Beds and Northants Multiple Sclerosis Treatment Center have benefited significantly from painting. Thus, they are distracted from their diagnosis and can portray their feelings on the canvas: be it anger, disappointment or confusion.

Multiple sclerosis is a neurological disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, which can be further complicated by disability. One such patient was 32-year-old Hannah Clayson, diagnosed at 24. Then she could not come to terms with this ailment, because it was a big surprise for her at such a young age. Hannah's thoughts were completely confused, she could not accept the disease, so she began to draw her experiences.

Dr. Kay Taylor, Chair of the Center's Trustees, said: “When we hosted an art exhibition last year, it made us realize how much our community is interested in art and use it as therapy for our well-being and mental health.

Many members of the multiple sclerosis therapy center have taken up this occupation, they have changed markedly. Painting helps to get rid of negative thoughts, distracts attention from worries, anger and disappointment.
