In the United States, the number of cases of colonorectal cancer under the age of 50 is growing inexorably every year. This disease is the third most fatal one after lung cancer, prostate cancer in men and breast cancer in women. Now the screening age, according to the recommendations of the American Cancer Society, is 45+.

An analysis conducted between 2008 and 2017 found that the death rate from colorectal cancer decreased by 3% per year among adults aged 65 and over and by 0.6% per year among adults aged 50 to 64. however, these rates rose 1.3% per year among adults under 50.

The researchers say: there is an increase in the rate of increase in the incidence, as well as the incidence of patients with this disease of a younger age. Scientists associate the growth of tumors in the intestines with obesity and the use of carcinogenic foods in food. However, Rebecca Siegel, co-author of this work and research director of surveillance research at the American Cancer Society in Atlanta, noted that obesity, while making a significant contribution, is not the only cause of this pathology.

Based on the above data, in order to early diagnosis and treatment of patients with colonorectal cancer, it is necessary to carry out screening examinations from the age of 45 and lead a healthy lifestyle (adhere to proper nutrition and play sports).
