The COVID-19 pandemic has not let go of us for almost the entire year, in addition, even more infected are predicted by the coming winter. Since the course of the coronavirus infection itself entails serious complications, along with the attached influenza virus, patients can survive the combined infection much more difficult. Therefore, this year the largest number of the population will be offered free flu vaccinations.

"The risk of mortality in patients with coronavirus infection and influenza is higher than in patients who have had only Covid-19," said UK health officials. According to their calculations, the death toll from co-infection was twice as high.

According to the UK's National Health Service, free flu vaccinations include:

- people at risk of Covid-19 and those living with them

- patients with diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases

- pregnant women

- preschool children over two years old

- all primary school students, like last year, and for the first time students in grade 7

- persons over 65, before the program is extended to people over 50

- medical and social staff

- people living in a residential building or nursing home

- Persons caring for an elderly or disabled person.

The influenza virus itself can proceed with formidable complications, negatively affecting the nervous, motor, and respiratory systems. All the "insidiousness" of the coronavirus is already known to everyone, therefore, taking into account all the nuances, health workers are calling for a mandatory flu vaccine, especially this year.
