The candidate vaccine, which the Chinese pharmaceutical corporation Sinopharm is working on, triggers an immune response against all known strains of the coronavirus.
"The inactivated vaccine that we have developed can be applied to all strains of coronavirus identified know, including the strain found in the «Xinfadi» market in Beijing," - Sinopharm President Yang Xiaoming said.
The Chinese company's vaccine candidate is currently in its third phase of clinical trials. In June, Sinopharm announced the successful completion of the second phase of research.
The developer has more than 4 million doses of the tested drug at his disposal, the publication specifies. According to Yang Xiaoming, a working vaccine will be ready by the end of this year or early next.
