The Indiana University of public health has proposed to review the management of premature babies, according to them, it is necessary to retrain medical staff in other skills for managing newborns.

The prevention of hypothermia of a premature baby is taken into account by the medical staff of maternity halls, as this is one of the factors of morbidity and infant mortality. Today, maternity hospitals are increasingly missing the nuances of managing preterm birth and caring for premature babies. In order to correct this situation and "tighten" the knowledge in twenty-five public hospitals in Indiana, where more than 400 multidisciplinary teams work, a survey was conducted in the form of testing of health workers.

This training was presented as a preterm birth simulation, where test participants were included in a virtual clinical case. According to the results of completed tasks, participants scored an average of 22 points out of 36 assigned and 4.4 completed thermoregulation actions out of 8 suggested. The test was repeated, and the participants retook the tasks. This time, the results were noticeably better: 26 out of 36 items were answered correctly, and 6 out of 8 out of practical tasks on thermoregulation.

Thus, this simulation of clinical situations and tasks improved the knowledge and practical skills of medical workers, as well as the effectiveness of the entire maternity ward. For medical professionals, regular training of updated scientific data, repetition of practical skills, and correction of knowledge gaps is an integral part of clinical activities. This allows you to keep up with the times and avoid mistakes in your work.
