Artificial intelligence will help Moscow doctors identify cancer by analyzing mammograms. This initiative is being implemented as part of an urban computer vision experiment. Anonymized studies are analyzed by services using artificial intelligence algorithms, and doctors see the results of their work along with the original research.

Scientists are accelerating the pace of introducing digital solutions into the Moscow healthcare system. Now, artificial intelligence technologies are used to analyze mammograms in urban medical institutions. The service was created to help radiologists interpret the results of the study, including in the process of screening for breast cancer. The new technology will improve the quality of cancer diagnostics.

The deputy mayor noted that in medical organizations, artificial intelligence is already analyzing several types of research: computed tomography, X-rays and fluorography. Recently, mammography has been added to this list.

Service "Celsus" works on the basis of neural networks and analyzes digital medical images, revealing the slightest suspicious changes in the structure of breast tissue.

The entire examination recognition procedure lasts no more than 10 minutes. The algorithm is highly sensitive and detects any small change. The doctor interprets the data obtained, and then decides whether they have diagnostic value, whether it is possible to suspect breast cancer in this case, or are the fears in vain.

According to experts, artificial intelligence, of course, will not be able to replace doctors - only they make the final decisions and take responsibility. But in certain situations, for example, during screening, services become a good help for radiologists, helping to notice even minor changes in time and suspect pathology.
