         To date, in the world, according to WHO, one in twelve people is ill with diabetes and is affected by endocrine disruption. In terms of prevalence, diabetes has grown so much that every fifth person has a common understanding of such a disease. Therefore, this article will be described and supplemented by interesting new facts about diabetes that you may not even have heard of.

     To begin with, diabetes is a disease associated with impaired glucose metabolism in the body. Insulin, a hormone that is synthesized in the pancreas, is responsible for the absorption of this substance. If, for certain reasons, insulin is not enough or the tissues stop responding to it, then the sugar that we get from food accumulates in the vessels and some organs (among them are the nervous tissue, kidneys, mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract, etc.) imbalance: "hunger in the midst of plenty." While some tissues suffer without glucose, others are damaged by its excess.

       Why is diabetes occurring? A clear answer to this question does not yet exist, however, scientists each year clarify the mechanisms of development of the disease. It has been established that, for sure, this disease develops in two ways:

1. If the death of cells that produce insulin occurs (due to an immunity error in which the tissues of the human body are perceived as foreign and destroyed);

2. If the body tissues become resistant to this hormone - insulin resistance, which is associated with large amounts of consumed carbohydrate foods (this is observed in obese people).

      In the first case, doctors diagnose type 1 diabetes. This is still an incurable disease, which without timely medical attention quickly leads to the death of the patient. The second scenario is typical for type 2 diabetes mellitus, the disease of the elderly and obese. But it is also important to know that there are much more types of diabetes than the above two, although they are much less common. It is worth highlighting only gestational diabetes - an increase in blood sugar in a pregnant woman, which sometimes disappears on her own after childbirth, and in some cases becomes a trigger for the development of type 2 diabetes in a mother or her child.

       The main and important diabetes treatment for all types is a healthy lifestyle. The phrase "healthy lifestyle" means: to monitor nutrition, physical and emotional stress, take into account stresses, ailments and other factors that can affect well-being. People with type 1 diabetes should never despair, because there really is a way out! In addition to using a glucometer and test strips, there are insulin pumps that can simplify the life of every sick person. But more about that in the next article...
