Herd immunity is a controversial issue regarding Covid-19

In the United States, the question of herd immunity has come to the fore. Doubts on this topic were introduced by some scientists who suggested that the White House government end quarantine and return the previous mode of life to those who are immune to Covid-19. However, World Health Organization CEO Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has denied the strategy. “It is simply unethical to allow the spread of a dangerous virus that we do not fully understand,” he said. Tedros Ghebreyesus called herd immunity a concept for vaccination, but not the fight against a pandemic. You cannot just stop all actions to stop the spread of the virus and end the quarantine.

This approach of herd immunity to coronavirus was applied by Sweden, in which the population, having become ill with this infection, will form natural immunity. However, there is a big problem: people with concomitant diseases are difficult to tolerate the disease, as a result of which complications can develop and, in addition, the number of deaths will increase.

Thus, the decision of the World Health Organization to introduce collective immunity in relation to a pandemic is dangerous for public health; this is not a way out of the current situation. It makes no sense to weaken quarantine measures, switch to the previous regime and, as a result, spread the virus uncontrollably.
